Lukla never happened but we are at phakting

After an 6 am ride to the airport we sat around at the airport till 11am and still no flight confirmation in sight. All reservations are soft and schedule does not mean a thing, flights leave when the planes come back and when the weather is good and most importantly when the pilot feels like flying.
A quick decision was made to hire the helicopter instead and split the group in four subgroups. A groups EQ is determined when things are not going well and decisions need to be made quickly. Happy to say, this is the very high EQ and IQ and we ended up flying to phakting. The journey was wonderful, this a how the planet is supposed to be till we make in into Kathmandu. Mountains, rivers , valleys, terraced farms and people walking with the animals and children , all of it is wonderful and peaceful. No fumes, no Hong and no noise except the river flowing.
We made it to the helipad and then realized no one knew where are we supposed to go and do. It is already 9000'  and we were surprised to find out the guide did not know anything.....luckily there was a very nice woman named Krishna. She showed us the way to the lodge but offered us nice clean bathroom as well as masala chai and buiscuit.
We walked down the trail to this beanutiful valley with suspension bridge and the lodge. On the way I almost got run over by a train of buffelos, have to be more careful about them. Saw the Porter's carrying heavy loadand definitely have lot more appreciation for minimal physical things.
After some chaos and back and forth miscommunication, all is well. Everyone made it before dark. We are sitting around eating and laughing. There is no internet in the room so I am doing this blog from the lodge. We pay for the internet and also for charger and hot water. The place is very basic but is on the river with a suspension bridge.
So the day began with big suspense and ended with suspension bridge at 9000'. All is well on the mountain in the middle of nowhere....tomorrow we are off to namche bazar. It will be a long hard climb about 1500' and steep....good night for now. Enjoy the pictures

  2. Can visualize the anxiety and the adrenaline rush with this group. Glad it was a productive day and experience is all that matters. Wish more people think of becoming 'minimalistic' and save our planet from waste and over consumption. Meanwhile, continue to enjoy every moment dear Saroj. Goodnight & Lights out!
